2026 started cold and snowy, and this certainly put the dampers on our usual New Year’s events at The Phoenix Inn, Hartley Wintney, and the Vintage Stony Car and Motorcycle Gathering. I don’t know of anyone who ventured to these events. However some hardy members of ThamesMOG did manage to venture to New Year's Day Classic Gathering at Brooklands Museum. Well done. We have lots of exciting ideas for events and visits in the next 12 months. At this time of year, as ThamesMOG members prepare for their Christmas Lunch at the Harte and Magpies, we start to reflect on the year that has just gone by. There have been plenty of ups, and sadly a couple of downs.  This year we lost Chris Nickless and Terry Tedman, both strong characters who had helped to shape the Thames Valley Centre over the years. Gone but not forgotten.  On a brighter note, we have had plenty of great outings during the year. These started with the New Year’s Day meets at the Phoenix Inn and at Stony Stratford.

At the end of September, ThamesMOG member Howard Clark competed at the Thruxton racetrack in the final two races of the Morgan Challenge season. How did Howard do? I am pleased to be able to tell you that Howard won his class in both the races, meaning that he is the 2025 Class 4 champion. Not only that, but his gross total for the season means that he came second overall in the Morgan Challenge. This is amazing, especially considering he overcame early mechanical woes and finished the season on a high, showcasing how competitive the popular Roadster Lightweight still

September’s ThamesMOG events were like buses, all coming at once, but as the deadline for submitting this report was before these events, I can only list what we expect. Over the weekend of 20th and 21st, there was the Kop Hill Speed Hill Climb, where you may have seen members and their Morgans alongside the Hill. On Saturday, 20th, ThamesMOG member Howard Clark competed at the Thruxton racetrack in the final two races of the Morgan Challenge. Some members were cheering him on. How did Howard do? ThamesMOG members have enjoyed a packed and varied August. The forecast for heavy rain and thunderstorms did not stop Karen and John from driving topless to ThamesMOG’s first Brunch Noggin.‍ 13 ThamesMOGers arrived in five Morgans and two tin tops (they had good excuses, and it wasn’t the weather). It was great to meet up with everyone.‍ The conversation was not only Morgan and motorcycle based, but also ranged across subjects such as London theatres, the Serpentine Galleries, and Glamorgan sausages. ThamesMOGers had a splendid day in the sunshine watching the racing at the Bentley Drivers Club race meeting. At

July was a busy month, looking to the skies with SogMog at the West Tisted Air Fly-in ( a fly in for mostly vintage aircraft and pilots of a certain age, on the hottest day of the year), and then over 30 members and 18 cars for our tour of the Shuttleworth trust, both fascinating visits. Our feet were firmly on the ground for the Chiltern Open Air Museum Classic Vehicle show. The show had a stunning collection of classic cars and motorcycles, and the chance to walk round the fascinating historic buildings that make up the Open Air Museum.
